Regional Vice President of Data Center Construction

Travel: Up to 60%

The Regional Vice President of Construction is responsible for leading the delivery of hyperscale data center projects across the West Region, overseeing multiple developments simultaneously. This role is instrumental in delivering Prime’s construction strategy while ensuring on-time, on-budget, and high-quality project execution.

Reporting to the EVP, Product Delivery, the VP of Construction works closely with executive leadership, development, engineering, sales, finance, and operations teams to drive efficiency, cost savings, and operational excellence. As part of a growing organization, this role requires a forward-thinking leader with the ability to drive cost and schedule reduction and seek to serve as an agent for change management and optimize project execution across multiple markets.
 

• Lead the strategy, execution, and oversight of multiple hyperscale data center projects in the West Region.
• Act as a strategic partner to executive leadership, providing insights on construction operations, cost efficiencies, and long-term scalability.
• Collaborate with sales teams to engage with customers, ensure alignment with project requirements, and enhance service offerings.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize construction processes and increase cost-effectiveness.
• Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the construction organization.
• Oversee construction functions across all active markets, ensuring adherence to company standards and best practices.
• Develop and manage a team of construction project managers, overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Manage overall CAPEX budgets for data center campuses, ensuring financial discipline and control.
• Provide executive-level updates on project status, key risks, and performance metrics.

• Develop and execute RFPs, oversee project budgeting, and coordinate pre-bid planning.
• Manage relationships with design-build and design-bid-build contractors to ensure efficient project execution.
• Oversee the procurement and logistics of OFCI equipment, coordinating between procurement and general contractors.
• Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
• Partner with design, operations, and client teams to ensure compliance with engineering standards and project specifications.

• Submit monthly project financial reports, including forecasting, cash flow analysis, and variance reporting.
• Review contractor billing and job progress to ensure alignment with budget and timeline expectations.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives while maintaining high-quality project delivery.
• Negotiate and manage vendor contracts, ensuring cost efficiency and operational effectiveness.

• Develop, document, and drive lessons learned, process improvements, and best practices across projects.
• Ensure all regions comply with financial controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct and oversee weekly safety walks to ensure compliance with Prime’s EHS policies.
• Support the implementation of new construction technologies and innovative methodologies.

• Own resource allocation and project workflow for direct reports and third-party project management personnel.
• Foster a team-oriented environment through mentorship, coaching, and leadership development.
• Encourage cross-functional collaboration between construction, engineering, and finance teams to drive operational success.

• 10+ years of experience in mission-critical construction management pract
• Proven track record of delivering hyperscale data center projects
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or equivalent experience
• Strong executive communication and strategic leadership skills
• Experience managing large-scale budgets and vendor contracts
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
